My Favorite Green Juice Recipe

1/25/2017

I'm sure you've heard the buzz about fresh green juices. It seems everyone who's into health is drinking them! It can be a bit pricey to buy gree juices, but you can save a little money by making your own! The bonus is that you get a ton of nutrition and antioxidants in a serving of green juice. It is estimated that you get at least 5 servings of vegetables in a serving of juice! This is why I juice - my husband doesn't love to eat big salads like I do, and this is one way I can get lots of nutrition into him!
The joy of juicing is that there is no set recipe. I'm just going to give you my formula that I like to use.
I like a mix of fruits and veggies
The joy of juicing is that there is no set recipe. I'm just going to give you my formula that I like to use. I always add greens (its the only way my husband will eat them!) Spinach is pretty mild, so you can put a lot in. Kale is a lot stronger, so it may overpower your other flavors if you put a lot in. I think celery is great, not only for its nutritional benefits, but it adds a little sodium and keeps the juice from being bland. Citrus adds a punch of vitamin C. Ginger adds a punch of flavor and a little spice, plus it helps your body digest the raw juice! And, I like to use raw carrots for the base. Always use organic vegetables for juicing! You can add more fruit if you like it sweeter!
Okay, so the color looks a little like army green, but I promise it tastes better than it looks!

Its pea soup green, but it tastes good!

My Favorite Green Juice Recipe

1/2 of a large bag of baby carrots
2 bunches celery
1 bag to 1 large container spinach
2 apples
6 mandarin oranges
1 lemon
2-3 inches (or more to taste) ginger

Chop veggies (if your juicer requires it) to a small enough size to fit into the juicer spout. Send them all through your juicer!
Make sure you fill your glass containers to the top. This preserves the nutrition. This will keep for up to 3 days.
I have two sizes of containers. I give my hubby the large 16 oz. jars and I enjoy the small 8 oz. jars.
Enjoy!
