What Does the Bible Say About Stress?

2/28/2017

Stress is one of the most searched topics on the internet. Anyone who is alive experiences stress. Stress can be debilitating to your life and your Christian walk. By changing your perspective on stress and using it as a learning experience, you can take some good away from the stressful experiences you encounter.

The Bible talks about this in James 1:2-4. Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Stress About Making Decisions

If you are worried about making a big decision pray about it, surrendering your plans to God and asking Him to guide you as you make decisions. Spend time reading the Bible for anything God may have to say about the subject.

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.

Give your worries to God.

Stressful Situations

When you don’t understand why you are experiencing this stress or are in this situation, have faith that there is a purpose in it.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

2 Corinthians 4:7-9 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Psalm 56:3-4 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. 4 In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
When you feel like you need peace, pray for it. Recite these verses about receiving peace from God to yourself, or post them where you will see them constantly.
God can give you peace.

Giving Your Stress To God

When you feel like you need peace, pray for it. Recite these verses about receiving peace from God to yourself, or post them where you will see them constantly.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Psalm 94:19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Stress is something that we need to deal with. If you do not want to deal with stress, then you will have to be the most complete person. Well, while dealing with stress is only normal, that does not make it easy. I want everyone to understand how hard it is to deal with the stress of life. Personally, I do a lot of traveling to deal with my stress. It is easy to forget about my problems whenever I am traveling.
